Patent No. 3576185 Sleep-inducing method and arrangement using modulated sound and light

Patent No. 3576185   Sleep-inducing method and arrangement using modulated sound and light (Schultz et al., Apr 27, 1971) Abstract A tone or a blue light are modulated slowly between a perceivable maximum d a perceivable minimum with a perceivable period. Both the light and the tone are switched in after a time delay past the energization of the carrier and modulating signal generators used in the generation of the modulated light and tone, so that no transient effects are visible to the patient. The switch-out process is similarly effected in gradual stages to reduce transient effects. Notes: The effectiveness of the sleep-inducing effect is increased considerably when the frequency of the sine tones emitted by both speakers differ by approximately 0.5 to 2 Hz. This causes additional beat frequencies to appear. This method is particularly effective when the modulation periods of the two acoustic signals are slightly different

Patent No. 4191175 Method and apparatus for repetitively producing a noise-like audible signal

Patent No. 4191175   Method and apparatus for repetitively producing a noise-like audible signal (Nagle, Mar 4, 1980) Abstract A digital pulse generator and shift register repetitively produce bursts of digital pulses at a first adjustable repetition frequency. The repetition frequency of the pulses in each burst is also adjustable. A pink noise filter accentuates the lower burst frequency components near 7 hz and substantially attenuates all frequency components of the bursts above a first cut-off point near 10 Khz. A tunable band pass amplifier having a center frequency adjustable over a preselected range of frequencies optimally detectable by the average human ear accentuates the pink noise filter output near 2.6 Khz. The tunable amplifier drives an audible signal source with noise-like pulses of varying amplitudes and frequency components. A low pass amplifier may be connected to the pink noise filter to generate a train of pul

Patent No. 4388918 Mental harmonization process

Patent No. 4388918   Mental harmonization process (Filley, Jun 21, 1983) Abstract A state of relaxation or mental harmonization in a subject is created by exposing a color solely to one field of vision of a subject and the complement of that color solely to the other field of vision of the subject while simultaneously exposing an audible tone solely to one ear of the subject and a harmonious tone solely to the other ear of the subject. The color and tones employed are subjectively comfortable and compatible. Preferably, the frequency difference between the two audible tones is one-half the frequency of the audible tone having the lowest frequency. Notes: FIELD OF THE INVENTION This invention is concerned with a process of producing a state of mental harmonization or relaxation in a subject through a novel use of visible colors and audible tones. DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART The use of visual and audio stimu

Patent No. 5719635 Television set having alpha-wave generation function

Patent No. 5719635 Television set having alpha-wave generation function ( Han , February 17, 1998) Abstract A television set having an .alpha.-wave generation function includes a user key input portion, an .alpha.-wave generator, a sound producer, a first switch for selectively applying the .alpha.-wave generated by the .alpha.-wave generator to the sound producer and a controller for controlling an on/off operation of the first switch in response to a user input via the key input portion, to thereby enable a user to select the .alpha.-wave generation in the television set. Through a second switch for selectively applying an audio signal to the sound producer and a third switch for selectively supplying a video signal to a cathode ray tube of the television set, the user can control the .alpha.-wave generation simultaneously or independently from the audio and video signals.   Notes: BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Patent No. 5123899 Method and system for altering consciousness

Image
Patent No. 5123899 Method and system for altering consciousness (Gall, Jun 23, 1992) Abstract A system for altering the states of human consciousness involves the simultaneous application of multiple stimuli, preferable sounds, having differing frequencies and wave forms. The relationship between the frequencies of the several stimuli is exhibited by the equation g=s.sup.n/4 .multidot.f where: f=frequency of one stimulus; g=frequency of the other stimuli of stimulus; and n=a positive or negative integer which is different for each other stimulus. Notes: BACKGROUND ART It is well accepted in scientific circles that there is a correlation between the electroencephalographic wave rhythms exhibited by the brain of a human and the state of consciousness of that being. Rhythms customarily found in the normal human adult when he is relaxed and his eyes closed have a pulse frequency in the seven-fourteen Hz. range and have c

Patent No. 5289438 Method and system for altering consciousness

Patent No. 5289438 Method and system for altering consciousness (Gall, Feb 22, 1994) Abstract A system for altering the states of human consciousness involves the simultaneous application of multiple stimuli, preferable sounds, having differing frequencies and wave forms. The relationship between the frequencies of the several stimuli is exhibited by the equation g=2.sup.n/4 .multidot.f where: f=frequency of one stimulus; g=frequency of the other stimuli or stimulus; and n=a positive or negative integer which is different for each other stimulus. Notes: TECHNICAL FIELD This invention is concerned with the application of stimuli to a human subject to induce different states of consciousness. BACKGROUND ART It is well accepted in scientific circles that there is a correlation between the electroencephalographic wave rhythms exhibited by the brain of a human and the state of consciousness of that being.
